Chile as a Travel Destination
Chile as a Travel Destination
It seems that everyone wants to travel to Europe or cruise the Caribbean. In a way this is very good for us Chileans, as it will prevent our country to have a constant crowd swarming around like in some European sites. Instead we have a peaceful country. On the other hand, there is still lots of room for more visitors enjoying what Chile has to offer. We are blessed with wonderful wine, incredible seafood, stunning landscape and kind people that welcome the traveler.
Chile has around 16,000,000 inhabitants, of which almost 4,000,000 are in Santiago, its cosmopolitan capital. In this long and skinny country we can find many different scenarios: A desert in the north with unique villages and oasis, Mediterranean climate in the mid section or Central Valley, lush native forest, pristine rivers, lakes and snow capped volcanoes in the Lake District as well as fiords, islands and glaciers in the south. Not to forget about Antarctica, which is around the corner if you go to Punta Arenas, at the tip end of Chile.
Lately the country has developed first class hotels in all of the must-see areas. There is a bunch of excellent fishing lodges, which I know very well :) , and knowledgeable tourist guides to show you around. There has been a big improvement in the quality and quantity of convention centers in the main and most interesting destinations of the country which makes it a very attractive place to plan meetings and seminars.
An escape to this South American paradise will reward you with an unforgettable vacation.
